language arts
found out yesterday i got an article accepted in Language Arts, which is a widely distributed journal of the National Council of Teachers of English. cause to celebrate. still haven't finished the one i was working on this summer, though. raining here today. going to SCS to observe in Barnes's classroom. kelly has a tennis match after school weather permitting. apples in the field are prime picking. they're the best they've ever been this year. must be all that heat and humidity we had this summer killed off the bugs and worms. created my first blog yesterday for a research collaborative group i'm working with across the country. i'm getting into this technology stuff! makes life a lot easier. |

buzzin'
It's 7 pm and I'm still working at the computer. Just taking a break to eat dinner, so I thought I'd write before signing off. Had lunch today with Sherry and Connie at work. We went to a dining hall on campus. It was $7 for all the food, drinks, and desserts you could eat. Now I remember why I gained weight in college. There was ice cream, pasta, nut breads...everything you could possibly imagine. Seriously overate. That's probably why I wasn't hungry for dinner until now. Long run tomorrow unless it's raining when I wake up. 20 miles. The marathon is creeping up. This is the last building-up long run. After this I start cutting back to prep for The Day, Oct. 9. Two weeks of school, then we have a week off for Yom Kippur. Not the whole week..I just work that Monday. |

going to scs
this morning i'm going to schoharie central to observe in mr. barnes's english class. we're working on a study together. so far it's been interesting to be back in high school. the kids are pretty layed back. not dug in like my college kids are. not really excited about learning or at least putting up a good front for their friends. there's one girl who's pretty interested and wants to talk a lot but she gets turned off often because he wants to involve the rest. yesterday was my 14 hour day at school 7 am-9 pm. today i have lots of journals, projects, and quizzes to score. i gave the boys a bath and they're sleeping it off right now. i need to get down to see mommy...maybe dinner and a movie friday night at her house. she always likes that. i'll call dawn right now and see if she wants to do that. mark quit school monday, only to enroll again on tuesday. he just called and told them to destroy the paperwork, so it was like it never happened. i think annie did that once at cobbleskill, too. i think he was just feeling overwhelmed and like why did it matter anyway. A sleepover!
Tomorrow night I'm going to a conference in Albany. It ends late so I'm going to sleep over at Grandma's house. She's excited about it. She said my bed is all made up. Uncle Joe passed away. We went to his wake last night. |

validatiing
I got P's reply and tried to reply to it, but it said I wasn't validated. So I think I took care of that for next time. I wasn't surprised that P wrote even though he was probably beat after the flight. I'm sure the first thing you did, P, was get caught up on the computer. Am I right? You guys have a great time on your honeymoon and say hi to the mom and dad for me...and Lilly, too. Take some pictures of Bigfoot if you see him. Are you supposed to use people's real names on this? Off to grocery shop. Yuck...not my favorite thing to do, but what are you gonna do? bbfn |

Back from the airport
Annie and Patrick left for Washington early this morning. I'm waiting for their call. I miss them already. Spent the day cleaning house, shopping for groceries, walking the dogs (a nice, sunny day), and clearing up things on my desk. Not caught up, though....Am I ever? This is my first official journal entry. How do I get rid of that picture!?! Current Mood: lonely |
